Mixing traditional african rythms with modern music
The Gothenburg-based afrofusion band De Empirez, with roots in Nigeria, Congo, and Sweden, delivers a vibrant stage show! The bands base is the old african telegraph Ekwe, a quite rare instrument made by a piece of wood. From this special instrument the band builds bass and bombastic rhythms.
De Empirez have played together since 2021. They released their first EP WINGZ 2023 with the songs Afrikana, Lokole (live), Kom Nära, Yakubo and Shungulistic! The songs are performed in English, French, Swedish and Pidgin. The band has played at Malmö Konsthall, Göteborgs kulturkalas, Skeppet GBG and Oceanen in Gothenburg.
